Hello Again....hello Spring?.....almost....

Ummmm, haven't been on here in quite some time and I'm not sure where to start!  I think I will call my time away a winter hiatus or winter retirement, whatever it was, it was just time away.

But now as I gaze outside and watch the birds go to and from our many feeders, I am also starting fantasize about what will happen to our backyard in the next several weeks.......spring will be here!  The daffodils are already starting to open (way too early this year) and lots of plants are showing growth too.

As my kids play outside I can't help but walk around the yard and check in our plants, see what's growing, what needs to be moved, what areas need color etc.  End of winter/early spring is a great time for garden planning for the year to come.  You can scout out different flowers and plants for this year through catalogs that seem to flood your mailbox at this time of year.  I also love www.davesgarden.com for information - everything you want to know about gardening seems to be there.  And because of my persistent deer population, this is another site, http://njaes.rutgers.edu/deerresistance/ I also check pretty frequently when planning out what plants to buy.  I get really excited thinking of the work ahead in the yard, I love it, it totally clears my head and gives me an appreciation for the outdoors every year.

Happy, Almost, Spring!
